Too Busy to Date? It’s Actually a Good Thing

Somebody, please tell me I’m not the only person having trouble finding a date while juggling family, work, volunteering, school, and friends. I can’t be the only one stigmatized as “too busy.”

Oh, how I loathe the notion that being ‘too busy’ implies you’re too intelligent to date. Whatever that means. Or that if you don’t have a social life, you shouldn’t date. Or when you’re too consumed with your career, studies, or volunteer work to date, you’re labeled as stuck up.

Don’t people get it? Being too busy to date seems like a luxury reserved for the rich and famous. But the rest of us busy-bees can also lay claim to that title.

In fact, being too busy to date is a common occurrence for many of us. And, believe it or not, there are some perks to being too busy to date!

Here are four of them:

Be Picky

First and foremost, you get to be picky. Strangely, this is one of the most attractive aspects of being too busy to date. You can afford to be selective; when you’re choosy, it shows.

It shows you’re not desperate, you have standards for what you want in a relationship, and you’re not imminently available. This selectiveness is attractive to people who aren’t desperate when they date.

Simple-minded folk won’t get this. They will berate and judge your pickiness. To them, settling is the way to go.

To people like us, it isn’t. We see through the nonsense and calmly pick the ones right for us.

Ditch the Games

Next, you don’t have time for games. When you’re too busy to date, you don’t have time for mind games, playing it cool, or any of that other dating nonsense.

You’re too busy for all that, and you won’t tolerate it from anyone else. This saves you a lot of time and headaches by weeding out anyone who isn’t interested in something real from the beginning.

And yet, as picky as you are, you may still waste time on people who want to play games or be bad dates. It’s okay. Look around. Who’s judging you?

If a date does not work out, it just means that this person or this particular date was not so great for you. Nothing more to it than that.

Be Confident

Moreover, you’re more confident. Being too busy to date also means that you’re more confident. When you’re confident, people can tell, and it’s attractive. People are drawn to confident individuals because they possess competence and self-assurance.

That’s precisely the kind of person people want to date! So, embrace your inner confidence and let it shine when dating. Don’t shy away from it.

Understand an important truth about confidence. When you have it, you birth three critical skills that all successful daters need: conversation, connection, and chemistry.

If you have these with your potential date, you’ll be able to not only move forward with your date but also attract that person meaningfully. And all of this because you’re confident.

Know Your Wants

Furthermore, you know what you want. When you’re too busy to date, you know what you want in a partner because you’ve had time to think about it.

Unlike someone always dating and looking for love, when you’re too busy to date, you’ve had time to reflect on what’s important to you in a relationship.

That means when you start dating again, you’ll know exactly what kind of person you want to be with and what things are important to you in a relationship.

This is a crucial byproduct of being too busy. Time is precious and limited; you don’t want to waste it on someone only looking for net gain without contributing to the relationship.

Instead, you can focus on finding an amazing partner by knowing what you want. You can find someone who will love and respect you no matter what life throws at them.

To illustrate, think of someone who rushes into relationships without considering what they truly want. They often end up dissatisfied, constantly searching for something better.

Conversely, those who take their time, reflect and understand their needs tend to find more fulfilling and lasting relationships. This clarity comes from being too busy to date frequently, allowing you to prioritize your values and goals in a partner.

Notably, being too busy to date teaches you the value of independence. When you’re constantly engaged with your responsibilities, you learn to rely on yourself for happiness and fulfillment.

This self-reliance is attractive and signifies that you don’t need someone to complete you but rather someone to complement your already fulfilling life. This attitude can lead to healthier, more balanced relationships where both partners support and uplift each other without co-dependency.

In the same way, your busy schedule can serve as a natural filter. Those who truly want to be with you will try to fit into your life, respecting your time and commitments. This mutual respect sets a strong foundation for any relationship, ensuring that both parties are invested and considerate of each other’s lives.

Ultimately, being too busy to date isn’t a curse but a blessing in disguise. It forces you to prioritize, focus on what truly matters, and approach dating with a clear, confident mindset.

You become more selective, avoid unnecessary drama, exude confidence, and have a solid understanding of what you want in a partner.

These traits not only make you a more attractive prospect but also increase the chances of finding a meaningful, lasting relationship.

The next time someone tells you that being too busy to date is bad, remind them of these perks. Being too busy to date isn’t so bad after all. It might just be the best thing for your love life.
